Whilst at College I was sent on a 6 week placement at the Yamaha piano factory where I tuned Yamaha and Kemble pianos.
After leaving college in July 1986, I went to live and work in Cambridge. I worked for a short time with a piano company Specialising in Player Pianos [Pianola]. I then decided to set up my own piano tuning and repair business and became self employed. My large client base included:
In spring 2001 after a short illness I decided to move To the Midlands to be closer to my family.
Due to a national shortage of qualified, insured and CRB approved piano tuners, I am finding there is a demand for work over a wider area. My work takes me all over the Midlands.
A list of some of the customers and organisations I work or have worked for.
In 2007 I met my partner Angela and her 2 children.
In 2008 I was made a Fellow Of The Association Of Blind Piano Tuners, recognising my significant and long lasting contribution to the association and to the piano tuning profession.
I have recently been vetted by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and approved to work in situations with vulnerable adults or children.
I developed a love for the piano at a young age and learnt to play at school. I really enjoy hearing the piano being played. I get great job satisfaction out of tuning pianos of all makes and sizes including Bösendorfer, Steinway, Bechstein, Blüthner, Knight, Welmar, Chappell, Kemble, Bently and Yamaha to name but a few and making them sound “nice” for my customers.
